Murder or just normal medical treatment? Stroke false records lorazepam kabiven DNR pneumonia death?
Female 83yrs old Patient suffers cerrebellum stroke survives well difficulty walking and poor short term memory but 3 weeks later (after many hallucinations looking like on morphine but drug never mentioned in notes) then declines into virtual coma with (at time) undiagnosed pneumonia. DNR placed on patient (unknown to relatives or patient). Lorazepam given to sedate for ct scan (falsified record made about CT scan found later never to have occured). Patient several hours later nearly dies of respiratory arrest but is saved by night staff. Relatives then told xray done diagnosis pneumonia and patient given antibiotics with some IV fluids and saline. (Relatives told nil by mouth due to bleeding which relatives not told due to simple fissure). Last day 1 week later very weak as still nil by mouth with some pneumonia remaining. Given Kabiven by IV on last day. Bleeding has stopped so patient relatives shown nasal tube as can be fed that route.Xray taken.Patient returned from xray, relatives told feeding tube removed by patient (impossible as patient so weak). Patient develops rapid breathing for at least 3 hours and told nothing else can be done just oxygen. Ventilator not offered (Relatives/patient still unaware of DNR). Patient dies.DNR was signed by consultant in charge of dept, who signed death certificate, who approved records before allowing me to see them. Normal medical treatment or murder?
