Has US Govt. become it's own "religion"/Cult?

I find it amazing similar and eerie that Democrats, especially for Obama, worship the ground he walks on the same way evangelical Republicans did with GW Bush. It's almost as if they were prophets and not politicians & I guess w/ the immense power they get as President it is probably the closets thing there is to a God on earth.
